Crowns, bridges and dentures in Airoli, Navi Mumbai.

Crowns, bridges, and dentures restore teeth that are damaged, missing, or worn. A crown caps a single weak tooth. A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by anchoring to the neighbours. Dentures are removable replacements — partial (some teeth) or complete (a whole arch).

Which one suits which problem.

A crown is for a single tooth that is too weak for a normal filling — typically large old fillings, cracks, or a tooth after a root canal.

A bridge is for one or two missing teeth in a row, where the teeth on either side are healthy enough to anchor the bridge.

A partial denture is for several missing teeth that are not next to each other, or where the neighbouring teeth cannot support a bridge.

A complete denture is for an entire arch of missing teeth — upper, lower, or both.

Fixed vs. removable.

Crowns, bridges, and implant-supported teeth are fixed — they stay in your mouth all the time and feel like your own teeth. You clean them in place.

Dentures are removable — they come out at night, are cleaned outside the mouth, and rest on the gums or partly clip to remaining teeth. Modern dentures fit well and stay put with the suction of the tongue and a thin film of saliva.

If you want the feel of fixed teeth but have a whole arch missing, ask us about implant-supported dentures — a small number of implants anchor a denture that does not move. We cover this under the dental implants page.

How it works

Two visits, two weeks apart, for most restorations.

First visit: prep and impression. Second visit: fit and adjust. Bigger cases (full arches) take more visits but the rhythm is the same.

  1. 01/

    Examination and plan

We look at the teeth, gums, and bite, take X-rays, and discuss which option suits your situation — single crown, bridge, partial denture, complete denture, or implant-supported (see implants page).
  2. 02/

    Tooth preparation

For a crown or bridge, the tooth (or anchor teeth) is gently reshaped under local anaesthetic to make room for the restoration. About 60 minutes.
  3. 03/

    Impression or scan

We take a precise impression — physical or digital — of the prepared tooth and the surrounding bite. This goes to the lab to make your final restoration.
  4. 04/

    Temporary fitted

A temporary crown, bridge, or denture is fitted so you can eat and smile normally during the 1–2 weeks the lab work takes.
  5. 05/

    Final fitting

We try in the permanent restoration, check the bite, the shade, the way it sits against the gum. Adjustments if needed. Once you're happy, it's cemented or seated.

After treatment

Looking after restorations long-term.

  • Crowns and bridges: brush and floss exactly like natural teeth. For bridges, use a floss threader or interdental brush to clean under the false tooth.
  • Dentures: take them out every night. Brush them with a soft denture brush and rinse. Soak in clean water (or denture cleanser) overnight to stop them drying and warping.
  • Six-monthly checks: we check the fit, the bite, and the health of any remaining teeth and gums. Small adjustments now prevent bigger problems later.
  • Ring us if: a crown feels loose or comes off (bring it with you), a bridge feels different when you bite, or a denture starts rubbing somewhere new.

The questions we hear most.

If yours isn’t here, ring or message and Dr. Sampada Khair will answer it herself.

  • When do I need a crown?
A crown is right when a tooth has too little healthy structure left for a normal filling — large old fillings that keep breaking, cracks, a tooth that has had a root canal, or a tooth worn down by grinding. Crowns wrap around the whole tooth and protect it.
  • What is the difference between a bridge and an implant?
A bridge uses the two healthy teeth on either side of the gap as anchors — we reshape them and the bridge sits on top. An implant is a titanium root placed where the missing tooth was, with a crown on top. Implants do not touch the neighbouring teeth, but bridges are usually quicker and less expensive. We discuss both in your consultation.
  • How long do dentures take to get used to?
About 2 to 4 weeks for the mouth to adjust. The first week is the strangest — speech, eating, and the feeling of fullness all need time. Most patients feel comfortable in social situations by the end of the second week and forget the denture is there within a couple of months.
  • Will my crown look like a real tooth?
Yes. Modern porcelain or zirconia crowns are shade-matched to your other teeth and shaped to match the natural anatomy. Most people who know you will not notice anything is different.
  • How long do these restorations last?
Crowns and bridges commonly last 10 to 20 years with proper care. Dentures last 5 to 10 years before the fit needs adjusting (the gums change shape over time). All of them last longer with regular check-ups and good cleaning.
  • What does this cost?
It depends entirely on which option — a single crown, a 3-unit bridge, a partial denture, and a complete denture are all different. The material matters too (porcelain vs. zirconia vs. metal). Ring or WhatsApp +91 79000 97145 for a real quote after the consultation.
