Teeth whitening in Airoli, Navi Mumbai.

Teeth whitening uses a peroxide-based gel to lift stains from the enamel and the layer beneath it. We offer two routes — in-clinic whitening done in one visit, and at-home whitening with custom trays you wear for a few hours over two weeks.

What causes teeth to discolour.

Most discolouration is what we call extrinsic — staining from things you eat and drink. Coffee, tea (especially milk tea that sits on the teeth), red wine, dark soft drinks, tobacco. The colour builds up slowly in microscopic pits on the enamel surface.

Some discolouration is intrinsic — inside the tooth. Ageing makes the underlying layer (dentine) darker over the years. Certain antibiotics taken in childhood cause permanent grey-banded stains. These are harder to whiten but usually still respond.

In-clinic vs. at-home whitening.

In-clinic whitening is done in one 60–90 minute visit with a stronger gel under controlled conditions. You see the difference immediately. Best when you have an event coming up and you want results now.

At-home whitening with custom trays uses a gentler gel that you apply yourself at home over 10–14 days. The final result is usually as good or better, with less sensitivity. The trays stay with you for top-ups later.

We are honest that strip-style whitening kits from the chemist work to some extent — but they bleach uniformly across the tooth instead of targeting the stain, and they often don’t fit properly so the gel touches the gums.

How it works

One visit, or two weeks at home.

Whichever route you choose, the check-up and the cleaning come first.

  1. 01/

    Check and clean first

A whitening gel can't lift stain off plaque. We check that the teeth and gums are healthy and do a cleaning so the gel reaches the enamel directly.
  2. 02/

    Pick in-clinic or at-home

Both work. In-clinic is faster (one 60–90 minute visit) and uses a stronger gel. At-home is gentler, slower, and gives you more control over the final shade.
  3. 03/

    In-clinic whitening

A protective barrier is placed on the gums. The whitening gel goes on the teeth, sometimes activated with a light. The cycle is repeated 2 or 3 times in the same visit. You leave with whiter teeth that day.
  4. 04/

    At-home whitening

We take impressions and make you custom-fit trays. You apply gel to the trays and wear them at home for the time we specify (usually 1–4 hours) for 10 to 14 days.
  5. 05/

    Review and maintain

A check two weeks later to confirm the shade. Top-up trays at home every 6–12 months keep the result steady.

After treatment

The first 48 hours matter most.

  • For 24–48 hours after: avoid anything that would stain a white shirt — coffee, tea, red wine, soy sauce, turmeric, beetroot, tobacco. The enamel is more porous and picks up colour fast.
  • If your teeth feel sensitive: use a desensitising toothpaste (Sensodyne or similar) for a week. Lukewarm food and drink, no extremes.
  • Long-term maintenance: a short at-home top-up in your trays every 6–12 months keeps the result steady. Six-monthly cleanings remove any new surface stain.
  • Smoking and frequent coffee: the result will fade faster — top up more often, or accept that the shade won't stay at the brightest level.
Shade guide: before and after whitening, showing shade lift of 5–6 steps.

The questions we hear most.

If yours isn’t here, ring or message and Dr. Sampada Khair will answer it herself.

  • How much whiter will my teeth get?
Most patients lift 4 to 8 shades on the standard dental shade guide. Teeth that are yellow from coffee, tea, or ageing respond best. Greyish teeth, or teeth stained by certain antibiotics in childhood, are more stubborn and may need more sessions.
  • Does whitening damage the teeth?
Done properly, no. The active ingredient is peroxide, which has been used in dentistry for decades. We protect the gums during the procedure and stop if your teeth become sensitive. The enamel is not weakened.
  • My teeth feel sensitive afterwards. Is that normal?
Mild sensitivity for 24 to 48 hours is common, especially after in-clinic whitening. A desensitising toothpaste (we tell you which) helps. If sensitivity is significant, we use a slower at-home regime instead.
  • How long will the result last?
Usually 1 to 3 years with normal habits, longer if you avoid heavy coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco. A short top-up at home every 6–12 months keeps it steady.
  • Will whitening change the colour of my existing crowns or veneers?
No — peroxide only affects natural tooth enamel. Crowns, veneers, and old fillings stay their original colour. If you have visible restorations on your front teeth, we plan the whitening shade first and then match the restorations to it.
  • What does whitening cost?
In-clinic whitening is typically a single fixed price; at-home whitening with custom trays is usually less. Ring or WhatsApp +91 79000 97145 for current prices.
